Bali sunsets are legendary for good reason. The island's west-facing coastline delivers extraordinary color almost every evening, and Canggu has some of the best vantage points. Here are our favorites.
1. Echo Beach
The classic. Grab a Bintang from one of the beachfront warungs, sink into a bean bag, and watch the sun drop behind the surf. The local vendors keep things affordable and authentic. This is the Canggu sunset experience at its most unpretentious.
2. La Brisa
If you want ambiance with your sunset, La Brisa delivers. Built from reclaimed fishing boats, this beach club on Berawa's shoreline is architecturally stunning. Book a table or day bed in advance — it fills up fast during golden hour.
3. Tanah Lot Temple
Just 20 minutes north of Canggu, this iconic sea temple is Bali at its most photogenic. The temple sits on a rock formation surrounded by crashing waves, and the sunset silhouette is genuinely breathtaking. Visit on a weekday to avoid the biggest crowds.
4. The Lawn
Perched above Batu Bolong Beach, The Lawn offers a slightly elevated perspective with cocktails and a reliable menu. The grass terrace fills up by 5pm, so plan accordingly. Great for groups.
5. Your Villa Pool
Honestly? Some of the best sunsets we've witnessed in Canggu were from our own properties' pool decks. Many Canggu villas face west, and watching the sky turn gold from a private infinity pool — drink in hand, no crowds, no noise — is hard to beat.
6. Pererenan Rice Terraces
A short walk from many Pererenan villas, these working rice paddies catch the late afternoon light beautifully. The combination of golden rice stalks, palm silhouettes, and that signature Bali sky is the definition of peaceful.
7. Batu Bolong Beach
Similar to Echo Beach but with a slightly different angle and vibe. The surf schools pack up, the longboarders catch their last waves, and the beach takes on a golden glow. Walk south toward the rocks for a quieter spot.
8. Finns Beach Club
Berawa's largest beach club offers a premium sunset experience — pool, ocean views, music, and full bar service. It's more produced than Echo Beach's raw charm, but the setting is undeniably gorgeous.
Sunset Tips
- Golden hour starts roughly 5:15–5:45pm (Bali doesn't observe daylight saving)
- Cloudy days often produce the most dramatic colors — don't skip the beach just because it's overcast
- Bring mosquito repellent for beach-level viewing
- Most beach clubs add a sunset surcharge or minimum spend during peak hours
